The struggle for supremacy is eternal, inevitable. Victory is the natural objective of every creation in these worlds.They will kill and die for their kind to dominate. Some call this eternal struggle 'equilibrium', the balance between light and darkness. A storm is coming. Mankind faces ruin and despair. The worlds are changing yet hope remains in the hearts of the people. They go about their daily lives never knowing the forces that can change their destinies forever.

Chapter 1 ▪ Genesis

For millennia, Shinigami (Death Gods) have been locked in battle with Hollows. It has forever been the purpose of Shinigami to protect humans from their invisible predators and purify the lost souls, while sending the corrupt to Hell. In the beginning Shinigami were few and far between. In the Soul Society it was rare for any spiritual being to develop any sort of power. Those that did grew to become exceptional warriors and fought to defend the Soul Society from beasts that came to be known as Hollows. Of these warriors Tsuruga Ichirou Isou was the mightiest. Seeing that Hollows were a constant threat, Ichirou and his comrades founded the Gotei 13. An organization of warriors that were dubbed as Shinigami by their enemies. The Shinigami Academy was created soon after. Ichirou took up the position of Soutaichou (Captain Commander), and led the Gotei on a campaign to rid the Soul Society of Hollows.

As time went on the Gotei grew, and so did its might and duties. Noble families invested in the Gotei for personal protection and funded the creation of the Seireitei, a massive compound that would house the ever growing Gotei and its funders. The Gotei soon learned that the threat of Hollows reached far beyond the realm of the Soul Society and into the world of the living. Ichirou was killed in battle and later succeeded by his son Tsuruga Kiochi. For many centuries a bloody war ensued in the human world. The advent of excess spiritual energy in the realm gave birth to spiritually aware humans. This in turn lead to the creation of the Order of the Quincy, a group of humans that could manifest their energy into bows. The Quincy and Shinigami joined forces to combat their common enemy.

The Hollows suffered losses from infighting and lack of leadership. However one would emerge from their ranks and become a definitive force to rule all Hollows. The infamous Queen of Skulls, Maritza Antonia Zaballa. The Queen of Skulls rose to prominence during the second war between Hollow and Shinigami. Maritza's power was so great she was dubbed "Vasto Lorde" by the Gotei 13. She was also among the first Arrancar ever seen. Though she was unable to attain an overwhelming victory, the murder of various captains at her hands made Maritza a legend among both Hollows and Shinigami. Her only resounding defeat came at the hands of Kiochi whom took her right eye.

After the war the Quincy began to grown in power as well as in number. As a result the Gotei 13 sought to govern the Quincy. For a time the quincy accepted the guidance of the Shinigami. Beforelong the Quincy grew tired of the regulations and laws forced upon them by the Shinigami. As a result the Quincy rebelled and a small scale excursion was fought. The Shinigami did not exterminate the Quincy nor were they defeated themselves. the battle ended in a stalemate. As a result the Quincy and Shinigami ended their alliance and went about protecting their respective realms. Shinigami only ventured into the world of the Living when they deemed their intervention necessary.

Five hundred years have passed since that time. The Gotei 13 has grown to be a prominent force within the realm of souls. The Order of the Quincy has grown into a full fledged empire whit stations across the globe. A newly elected empress has risen to the call of her people in the wake of the death of her predecessor at the hands of an Arrancar. Spiritually aware humans outside of the Quincy Order are discovering powers of their own and joining the fray. The Skull Queen hasn't forgotten nor forgiven her defeat at the hand of Soutaichou Tsuruga. She has amassed an army of her own and now more arrancar exist that carry the title she brought into existence. After five hundred years of quelled violence, the fires of war have once again been ignited. The battle between BLACK clad shinigami and WHITE masked hollows is ready to reach its peak once again.
